Principal’s Message 2018-19

This year as we begin our year as a California Distinguished School, I would like for our families to focus on their child's attendance as it relates to our district attendance Program.
Students with 10 or more absences, nine or more times tardy or three or more tardies of more than 30 minutes, will be invited to an ACT parent meeting.  Our district works in concert with the Los Angeles District Attorney's office and their Abolish Chronic Truancy (ACT) program.
Although we reward students for good attendance each trimester, we will make a concerted effort to inform parents of poor attendance.  We have found that our students who tend to perform better academically, tend to have better attendance habits.
Our goal for our students is that they grow to become productive, members of society, equipped with all of the tools, academic and behavioral, required to be successful citizens.
Please work with us as we make student attendance or priority.
Read our updates in the Tuesday Envelope your child brings home each week, and follow us on our website and Facebook to see the latest events happening at Nelson school.
